Make Holistic Animal Care Fun & Simple!

As more people are seeking a natural approach for their own health, it is no surprise that many are doing the same for their animals. In response, a growing number of animal professionals are offering holistic services that can increase the welfare of the animals in their care along with their reputation and revenue.
Holistic animal care looks at the whole animal – physical (the body), mental and emotional (the mind), and spiritual (soul or spirit.) Each plays an important role in the animal’s well-being. Holistic care can be done in the comfort of the animal’s permanent or temporary home including boarding, training, grooming and rescue facilities.
You may have not heard of some of the holistic methods discussed here. Please keep an open mind as we share with you information that has the ability to improve the lives of the animals in your care on a profound level.
Color Therapy: Don’t underestimate the power of color. Light blue is great for calming including trauma. Keep a stack of light blue towels available for swimming, bathing and any animal in distress. Beware of red as it can aggravate behavioral conditions.
Aromatherapy: Most everyone knows about using lavender essential oil on your hands or in the air for relaxation purposes. Have you considered using it with vinegar and water to clean your floors and countertops? Or adding lavender with citronella, lemongrass and cedarwood as a flea repellent?
Flower Essences: You have probably heard of Rescue Remedy helping with traumatic situations. Did you know flowers have the power to work on a deep level? Creating a custom blend for your pets or your clients can help unblock emotional issues that can even manifest physically if not addressed. The results can be quick and impressive.
Crystal Therapy: Small or large, crystals can have a big impact. To bring harmony and peace to your facility or home, place a piece of citrine with a piece of black tourmaline in the four corners of that space. Just make sure the crystals are at a safe level out of reach of the animals.
Animal Communication: Did you know that everyone can communicate with animals, including you? It’s just a matter of awakening your intuitive abilities. Connecting with animals on this level can deepen your relationship like never before. You can find out why animals are:
- Not playing nicely
- Not eating
- Depressed
- Constantly barking
- Afraid of being groomed
- Feeling ill
- Destructive
Nutrition: Great health and behavior begins with nutrition. It has more of an effect on an animal’s well-being than you may realize. Did you know that grains, chicken and lamb can create inflammation such as skin conditions, digestive problems and mobility issues?
Muscle Testing: Many holistic practitioners including vets and chiropractors use this technique to help determine what food, supplement, herb and/or therapy (colors, crystals, oils, essences, etc.) is best for an animal. You can too! Muscle testing is the KEY to saving time and money when you know what is BEST for the animals in your care. You can muscle test to determine what merchandise you should sell in your facility. You can offer a customized service to help your clients choose the best products for their animals.
