Building, Expanding, or Remodeling Your Pet Care Center
Are you building, expanding or remodeling your pet care? Confused about all the dog housing options available? We recently talked to Scott Manning from Midmark about best design options for animal health and ease of cleaning your animal enclosures. Midmark is the parent company for both Mason Company and Shoreline.
Key take-aways Scott shared on animal enclosure design included:
- Best practice design options to help control spreading disease include seamless and airtight installation. This is especially critical in areas where you have to hose off walls and doors.
- Adding FRP to the wall is fairly affordable; easy to wash and disinfect.
- Have a cove base on your flooring to prevent liquid from getting under the walls.
- Solid surfaces are easier to clean than grid panels. You do need to consider and plan for adequate airflow if you install solid tempered glass doors.
- There are a ton of color options with enclosures so it’s easy to add attractive color to your design.
- Luxury suites are the first to sell out and owners often wish they had installed more of them.
- Drains. Trench drains are most common and affordable option. This is a chance of cross contamination and smells. The optimal solution is one drain in the back of each enclosure, but this is more costly.
