Your staff is the backbone of your business and you rely on them to care for the pets, keep things clean, be kind to your clients and build a strong team. But how can you help to inspire them to do all that? We recently talked about five tips you can use to motivate your team to want to do more and how to incentivize the things that truly matter.

Before we get to the five tips it’s key to realize that as a leader it’s your role to create an environment that inspires your team members. To improve the motivation within each staff member they need to be inspired by the mission of your business and how you provide care quality. 

Taking a realistic look at how you relate to your team and how you can change to improve that relationship is often humbling. However, it can also be the cornerstone to obtaining the culture and high-performance team you want for your business. 

Following are the five tips for inspiring your team:

  1. Know culture you want, communicate that vision and live it in every interaction 
  2. Be personal with your rewards and recognition by collecting data from each staff member
  3. Talk with staff and ask them what they may want to see different and get their ideas on how improve the work environment
  4. Build a team that shares the goals you have for your culture and providing care to clients and pet guests
  5. Systemize your rewards and appreciation including monthly budgets to ensure consistency throughout the year
