Increase Success Revenues with Levels Dog Training

Levels Dog Training is a great way to generate revenue and keep you clients happy.  Are you teaching group dog training classes but find you have some students that fall behind, or others that are superstars and move ahead faster than you can teach? Want to even the playing field so your clients get exactly what they need, when they need it AND you can generate more revenue? A great solution is to make the switch to a levels-based model for group dog training classes.

Levels Dog Training Classes is a format for group training classes that differs from the typical 4-6 week class. The format solves issues of the dogs that are superstars that catch on quickly so get bored or a shy/fearful dog that takes a little longer to get comfortable and learn the cues/behaviors in your syllabus in a typical set number of class format.

Levels is a skills-based program where dogs move through your defined levels at their own pace. Once skills are mastered they can move to the next level. The levels format is great for

  • Basic obedience/household manners
  • Agility
  • Rally
  • Nosework
  • All skilled based training programs

Another advantage to the levels format is a higher move up rate to the next level of classes due to the flexibility of scheduling and success every level of dog achieves. Make level one easy enough that dogs can move up quickly so they feel success soon. This keeps owners engaged to keep working with dog and coming to class. This translates to more revenue for your business.

An example of creating levels for basic obedience and lengths of membership to achieve them are:

  • 2 months – basic cues
  • 4 months – distractions
  • 6 months – off-leash & distractions

This assumes clients attend once a week. Level one for basic cues would be offered twice a week and members can attend as many classes as they want.  Remember levels can be applied to many different types of training, not just obedience. Be sure to watch video for tips on setting up orientations, tracking attendance, number of dogs per trainer, managing levels as a solopreneur or using a punch-card system versus timed memberships. It’s a proven model that is loved by clients, trainers and benefits your pet business.
