Self-care for you and your staff is important all year, however, in super busy peak times we know it can be challenging to remember to focus on self-care.  Self-care isn’t selfish. Let’s look at some simple (and inexpensive) ways you can make sure you are taking care of your team and yourself so you don’t burn out. 

During busy times we recommend four key areas of focus with your self-care:

  • Time off – in peak season it is more important than ever to take a break from work. Our recommendation is to really push to give your staff and yourself two days off in a row. 
  • Diet – it’s so tempting to eat on the run and to reach for a comforting sugar snack when you’re super busy and under pressure. This is when you need to be focused on eating at least one healthy meal a day and having healthy snacks easily available as an alternative.
  • Sleep – how much sleep are you getting? Know your sleep requirements and keep the priority of getting your 7 or 8 hours each night. You’ll be more productive with a good nights rest, your body and mind both need the recovery time right now.
  • Treats/rewards – you and your team have definitely earned these so take time to enjoy a favorite reward or treat. Know what each individual staff member enjoys most and customize your treats and rewards. Remember to include yourself, you’ve definitely earned it!
