A gold star with the word "star" outlined in gold over it.

The Dog Gurus focus for off-leash playgroups is ensuring that they are both safe and fun. Consistently achieving a great safety record and dogs enjoying their day can be quite the challenge. It requires a great team of knowledgable staff that share a passion for off-leash play. As we celebrate our second anniversary we are excited to feature members that truly focus on having safe and fun playgroups.

Today’s post recognizes Staff that Shine by going above and beyond to achieve great results. Congratulations to Trish Dale – Happy Camper Doggy Day Camp and Erin Betancourt – Pomona Pet Services! Thanks for keeping the dogs safe while they have fun!

Raising the Fun Factor for Pets & People:

Here is what Happy Camper Doggy Day Camp & Sleepover had to say about one of their canine camp counselors, Trish Dale –

“One of the things that makes Happy Camper Doggy Day Camp & SleepOver so loved and sold out popular- by our clients-and please see our FACEBOOK and Google reviews- is the extra special mile my staff is willing to go for our dogs and their owners. Trish Dale, came up with the “Dog Days of Summer” last year. In 100 degree heat in FL, our dogs are all indoors and that’s where the fun began. Each week, Trish set out our schedule -in the front office- of dog fun from home made Frosty Paws, to luaus complete with photos of dogs in sunglasses to pool parties(in Fl all dogs have life preservers and wore them to daycamp!) to Father’s Day cards that were “ties” with their dog’s paw print for the knot of the tie to our star spangled 4th of July party complete with each dog’s photo in front of our American flag. You KNOW you have the best team when you have a parent tell you they met another parent at the dry cleaners (both had Happy Camper bumper stickers magnets on their car) and they said to each other “you know, next week is ice sculpture week”. (dog licks!) There is no better marketing or advertising than that. We’re in full blown 100 dog days of summer right now-what a great way to recognize a staff member that “shines”!”

Ensuring Dog Safety & Well-Being:

Here is what Tracy Anderson at Pomona Pet Services had to say about her right hand, Erin Betancourt –

“I saw this and knew I had to respond as I believe I have one of the best employees around! Erin Betancourt has been with us for over 2 years. She goes above and beyond each day, caring for the dogs, educating owners, pitching in wherever necessary, and most importantly, keeping the dogs safe. In 2014, her competence on the job allowed me to take a long overdue vacation. During my absence a forest fire broke out, and in our arid climate, spread rapidly. When the fire threatened to cross the river and head our way, Erin sprang into action. She cooridinated a complete evacuation contingency plan for all of the dogs in her care. She enlisted volunteers with travel crates and vehicles in which to transport them to another facility in town (thank you Laurie Mosher of K-9 Country Club!). She gathered food, supplies and files with the dogs’ information. She changed our voice mail message with instructions and information for concerned owners. She even arranged to evacuate our personal pet chickens! Erin stayed late into the evening and continued to monitor the path of the fire. Thankfully we have an amazing group of fire fighters and the fire did not make it across the river. We could all rest peacefully that night, even me, because I knew whatever it was, Erin had it covered. And if all of that wasn’t enough, Erin took this near emergency as a learning experience and created a thoughtful and detailed Emergency Evacuation Plan should we need one in the future.”
