Content: A strong and supportive team and environment is essential in the pet care industry, where effective communication and collaboration directly impact efficiency, team member satisfaction, and the quality of care provided to pets and clients. However, many teams struggle with breakdowns in communication, especially between departments and shifts. These gaps often lead to finger–pointing and workplace tension. In this Lunch and Learn, you’ll learn to address these challenges with clear communication strategies that will improve teamwork and create a more positive and productive environment for staff

Prior to Lunch & Learn Session:
- In preparation for leading the group discussion, the leader should review the supporting document section to determine how the information will be presented.
- Print a copy of the “Team Communication and Collaboration” document for each team member.
- Print a copy of the “Telephone – Pet Care Edition”.
- Optional: Ask your team to anonymously submit their feedback on how
communication pathways could be bolstered at the workplace.
During Lunch & Learn Session:
- Open with your thoughts on maintaining a positive environment where staff members feel heard and supported by their team.
- Distribute the “Team Communication and Collaboration” document to your team and review the material.
- Complete the telephone game as a group and discuss how this is relevant to communication and miscommunication in the workplace.
